If you find a roll of filament that is bad please add a label to it so we know it either needs drying, re-spooling or may not to be usable for printing anymore.
eSun:
- TAP lab normally buys eSun brand filament. If it isn’t eSun it is probably donated.
- eSun filament comes on cardboard spools, the edges are sealed now so they can go in the AMS but the spools are often a little wonky and can end up jamming. There are 3d printed covers for the edges in TAP lab, try adding them if you are having this problem.

Donated filament:
- Most rolls will have been dried in the dehydrator by now but it’s a good idea to check it to see how brittle it is before using it. If it’s gotten too damp it won’t print well.
- Some of the rolls are too large and/or heavy to fit in the AMS so need to be used on the external feeder. There are some that are even too big for the external holder. You can try it in the filament drier taking up 2 spots.
PETG and TPU
- These both need to be VERY dry before use. Plan ahead and dry them for 24 hrs before you print.
